What is Kubernetes?
An open-source system for automating the deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications across clusters of machines. It is the de facto container orchestration platform.
Where should I start?
Start with the Kubernetes Platform Overview and Architecture Explained, then work through the tutorials and the GitHub repositories to learn.
How do I choose a distribution?
Use a managed service for the least operations work, an enterprise distribution for supported on-premises use, or a lightweight distribution for edge and development.
How does Kubernetes relate to containers and cloud-native?
Containers package applications, Kubernetes runs and manages them at scale, and cloud-native is the broader approach of building applications for that model.
What changed on this page?
The 31 topic links are kept and grouped by purpose. Related pages were moved into pills and a group. I did not rebuild the individual topic pages.
Which Kubernetes versions are supported?
The project maintains the three most recent minor releases. On its releases page in October 2026 these were 1.37 (latest patch 1.37.1), 1.36 (1.36.5) and 1.35 (1.35.9), with patches dated 15 September 2026; 1.34 reaches end of life on 27 October 2026. Check kubernetes.io/releases for the current patch.
What happened to Ingress NGINX?
The Kubernetes project announced in November 2025 that best-effort maintenance of the community Ingress NGINX controller would continue until March 2026, after which there would be no further releases, bug fixes or security updates. Existing deployments are not broken and existing artifacts such as Helm charts and container images remain available. SIG Network and the Security Response Committee recommend that users migrate to Gateway API or another Ingress controller.
What is new in Kubernetes 1.37?
Kubernetes v1.37, named Garhwal, was released on 26 August 2026 with 67 enhancements: 16 graduated to Stable, 23 to Beta and 27 entered Alpha. Stable items include the metrics.k8s.io API, which spent nearly nine years in Beta, KYAML, the StorageVersionMigration API, and Pod certificates and ClusterTrustBundles.
What is the Kubernetes AI Conformance program?
CNCF launched the Certified Kubernetes AI Conformance program in November 2025 to define what a Kubernetes platform needs to run AI and machine learning workloads reliably and portably. CNCF reported in March 2026 that the number of certified platforms had grown from 18 to 31.
